May 22, 2008 - Baysox To Attempt History Again - Attempt To Break Two World Records Saturday Night
The Bowie Baysox will honor a piece of baseball history while attempting to set a new World Record this Saturday, May 24 during the Baysox game against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at 7:05 p.m. The Baysox will attempt to set the Guinness World Record for most people playing the kazoo at one time by having 3,000 people play "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh-inning stretch.
When the gates open at 6:00 pm, fans are encouraged to register to participate in the World Record Attempt. The first 3,000 fans to register for the attempt will receive a free kazoo. 2008 marks the 100-year anniversary of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" being written and the song is being honored in baseball parks around the country.
In addition to the kazoos, the Baysox will be hosting 3-Time World Champion Pizza Acrobat Champion Joe Carlucci as he attempts to break the world record for the highest pizza toss. His current mark stands at 21' 6" and he will attempt to break that record before the Fireworks light up the night after the game.
The Baysox have a history of attempting to set world records. Last year, they tried to set the world record for most people simultaneously yo-yoing. From 2003-2005 the Baysox celebrated each Fourth of July with an attempt to set the record for most people simultaneously sitting on whoopee cushions. The team has also attempted to set the world record for most people brushing their teeth at the same time.
The Baysox will also host AST Dew Tour Athlete Matthieu "Gumby" Therres and the Charm City Skate Team in the stadium parking lot before the game. The Charm City Skate team will be doing a skate demo for fans to watch prior to the game. "Gumby" will also be on hand during the Baysox game to meet & greet fans, sign autographs and take photos, plus talk about the upcoming AST Dew Tour event in Baltimore.
Tickets for the Baysox World Record Attempt game on Saturday, May 24th and all Bowie Baysox home games are available online at www.baysox.com or by calling the Baysox Ticket Office at (301) 464-4865. Tickets start at just $6.00 and parking is Free!
