August 6, 2007 - Baysox Catcher Eli Whiteside was injured in Sunday's game in the fourth inning, during the play that scored Trenton's lone run of the ball game in an 8-1 Baysox win. Bronson Sardinha singled to lead off the inning and went to third on Noah Hall's double. With one out, P.J. Piliterre launched a fly ball to right. Sardinha barreled home and ran full tilt into Bowie catcher Eli Whiteside, arriving just as the ball did, from a Ruddy Yan throw to the plate.
The impact knocked the ball from Whiteside's glove for the only Thunder run. Whiteside was knocked out by the collision and remained motionless for some time, moving only his hands. Whiteside however was conscious by the time he left the field, he was removed on a stretcher and taken to Mercer Medical Center. As of Monday series finale vs. Trenton, Whiteside was still recovering at the hospital and remained under observation, while resting.
