BOWIE BAYSOX BASEBALL CLUB

Location: Bowie, Maryland
Job Title: Communications & Public Relations Assistant (Internship)
Requirements: Pursuing or completed four year college degree. Must be able to work full-time (including all Baysox Home Games, Stadium Events and will include some Weekends and Holidays) and extensive hours, beginning April, 2008 through September 15, 2008.
Responsibilities:
• Baseball Information (including but not limited to)
o Providing statistics to members of the media and home/road coaching staffs
o Writing daily game notes for media and radio broadcasters
o Update standings, lineup cards, box scores, an press box materials for each game
• Website Management
o Daily upkeep of content including post-game wrap-up stories, feature stories, upcoming promotions and statistical data for home and away games
o Design graphics to make website attractive and useful as a sales tool
o Assist with overall implementation of website sales goals & promotions
o Track usage data and provide analysis to staff to help determine trending
o Compose the weekly e-mail to fan database
• Baysox On Deck Game Program
o Manage the content, advertisements, design, graphics and stories for all editions of the Baysox On Deck Game Program and meet production deadlines
o Write timely feature stories and statistics for each edition
o Work with Sponsorship Representatives to make sure advertisement copy meets deadlines for design and printing
• Graphic Design capabilities (Photoshop/Quark programs) a plus
• Other Duties as assigned by Communications Manager or Director of Marketing
Qualifications:
• Strong sports writing skills (writing samples will be required)
• Strong computer skills including experience with Quark Express, Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator
• Experience with Web Design/Maintenance & HTML coding
• Strong organizational & time-management skills
• Previous Sports Information (Baseball preferred) experience is a plus
• Overall understanding of the game of baseball & scoring
• Ability to work long hours and a long season while remaining enthusiastic and energetic

The Bowie Baysox, Class "AA" Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are seeking two unpaid interns to join its Ticket Operations Department as early as April 2008 through the end of the August. College students in need of internship credit preferred. This is a great opportunity to get one’s feet wet in the sports entertainment industry, and pick up valuable sales & event planning skills necessary to succeed in the sports profession after college.

Sell Baysox ticket packages to renewal customers & potential new customers
Prospect for new hospitality & group ticket business
Assist in managing database & handling targeted mailings
Work Baysox home games and other stadium events (ie. – Allen Iverson Celebrity Softball Classic, concerts, etc.) as assigned
Game-time duties can include but not limited to: assist in running birthday events, box office, providing customer service at Fan Assistance Tent, hospitality event setup & breakdown, etc.

| Visiting Clubhouse Manager |
The Baysox are looking for an individual for the position of Visiting Clubhouse Manager for the upcoming 2008 season.
Prior experience is preferred, but not required.
The Visiting Clubhouse manager will have the following duties:
Laundry: The Baysox have laundry facilities at the visiting team clubhouse. Laundry for visting teams, coaches, trainers and umpires will be done after workouts & home games. When a visiting team arrives in Bowie during a road trip the clubhouse manager will pick up laundry from the visiting team hotel, and will have their laundry ready for afternoon workouts.
Team Meals: The clubhouse manager will provide & prepare post-batting practice snacks & post game meals for the visiting team and umpires. The clubhouse manager will also provide shampoo, soap, and various snacks and amenities.
Umpires: Visiting clulbhouse manager is responsible for taking care of the Umpires and Umpires locker room including food/drinks, amenities, laundry and cleaning.

| Marketing Assistants - Baysox Brigade |
15-20 positions available on unpaid basis for 2008 season.
Requirements: Pursuing or completed four year college degree and a desire to learn and experience the business of professional baseball. Position will fulfill college credits (internship) if needed.
Responsibilities:
· Be an integral part of the community outreach efforts of the Bowie Baysox including but not limited to:
o Appearances at community events to promote Bowie Baysox Baseball and other stadium events
o Distribute Baysox information designed to help increase attendance at games and events.
o Personally interact with Baysox fans inside and outside of the stadium
· Promotions
o Colaborate with the marketing staff to design, develop and implement promotional activities designed to be fun, interactive and to help sell tickets
o Volunteer on game-days throughout the season
o Serve on the Baysox Brigade during games helping to run in-game promotional activities for fans
· Sales
o Work directly with the Baysox Ticket & Group Sales departments to contact Baysox fans to help sell tickets to games and stadium events
·Database Management/Collection
o Aid the overall efforts of the Baysox in maximizing the collection and use of e-mail addresses, fan data with the goal of selling more tickets to games and events.
Qualifications:
· Motivated individuals with the desire to gain experience in the business of professional baseball
· Outgoing personality
· Previous Customer Service Experience is a plus
· Willingness to perform wacky promotional activities on-field and in the community
· People who want to have FUN!
· Ability to volunteer a minimum of three to four full days per week

The Baysox are searching for fun-loving, outgoing, friendly individuals to serve as their lovable mascot "Louie" at part-time community events. Flexibility in schedule with Day & Evening hours available.
Interested candidates should be between 5'9" - 6'0" tall and between 165-210 lbs to fit the "Louie" persona.
Interested candidates should also be over 18 years of age with a valid drivers license and clean driving record as well as have experience dealing with the public and also children & family events.
